Only three centuries ago, climbing mountains would have been dismissed as sheer madness. The idea that wild landscapes could exert any kind of fascination was far from widespread. Mountain peaks were places of the utmost danger, and not astounding beauty. Why do millions of people nowadays go to the mountains? MOUNTAIN portrays the mesmerizing power of the mountains – and the impact they still have on our lives and our dreams.
MOUNTAIN was born as a unique cinematic and musical collaboration between the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the BAFTA-nominated director Jen Peedom. The images were captured by the world’s leading cameramen who specialize in high altitudes. You can hear works by Chopin, Grieg, Vivaldi, Beethoven and new compositions by Richard Tognetti.
